This summers fashion is full of exciting prints, colours and textures. Be sure to check out Sara's summer catalogue if you haven't already.
Looking good, feeling great and having comfortable yet stylish clothes to choose from, has never been better or easier.
Don't skip the Beaded Tunic on page 14 and the Print Tunics on the back cover. They are a winner with white 3/4 zip pants, linen pants or simply on their own, by the pool or on the beach. I love lounging in tunics, especially when at home.
Don't forget the sunscreen!

Hello everyone!
Since my last post the weather here in New York has dropped considerably... scarves and coats are a must (all in a matter of two weeks). It is autumn or fall as the Americans like to call it and it's a beautiful time of year. September and October are two of my favourite months in the Big Apple and the autumn foliage is hard to beat. You certainly know and feel the four seasons in New York. I love that.
Boots are everywhere in every heel height, shape and colour. Even though I have many pairs, I still feel the guilty pleasure of buying a new boot for the season. Comfort is everything too, since walking around the streets of Manhattan is an everyday part of my life and a necessity that I really enjoy. There is no place like it.
Today is Halloween and it's a big deal in the States. My husband, daughter and I are going to a friend's place for the weekend in New Jersey to mark this international holiday that's celebrated on October 31. I'm still trying to decide what to wear to a party where there will be 100 or so guests celebrating this secular holiday. It is Mila's first Halloween and I can't wait to see her expression when she sees all these weird and wonderful costumes. I hope she doesn't cry and freak out!
My mother came to stay with us for two months recently and returned to Australia two weeks ago (sob sob sob). We all miss her very much, including all our New York friends who couldn't wait to pop over for a taste of my mother's famous and very delicious biscuits for afternoon tea/coffee. Every weekend we had friends over, entertaining and loving my mum's time with us. Every day was a precious gift to have mum stay and be an important part of Mila's first year of life. Mum took care of our daughter whilst my husband and I were at work (no one like mum). My husband asked mum to move in with us and she replied with a big smile on her face, "No thank you my darling, Sydney is the best place for me. No place beats Sydney." There's nothing like having a wonderful family around. It certainly is the biggest trade off that my husband and I make by living in New York.
I've been working and traveling around the States a lot and even had my first overnight and two day/night trip away from my daughter this past month. I'm still nursing so it's crucial that I'm not away from Mila for too long. I have become an expert in expressing and I'm enjoying the balance of family/career. It's certainly more work however, I love it when I'm at home busy being mum and then on set as a fashion model and salesperson for a label/designer. One day I am pampering, the next, I am being pampered!
Be well.

For this weeks post it seems appropriate to offer you some of my travel tips (as requested), especially since I've been traveling weekly to a U.S. city this past month for work. The more you travel the more you get to know what works for you and your itinerary. Remember... less is more!
Checked-in luggage:
* I don't have more outfits packed than full days away. For example, if I'm away for five days, I'll have no more than five outfits on hand (one for each day)
* I always make sure I can mix and match my outfits. Using the example above, I'd pack a pair of pants or a skirt or dress and a pair of jeans, five tops and one maybe two jackets/coats (depending on the weather and the destination) that will go with pretty much everything
* Two pairs of shoes, one flat and one with a heel (day and evening covered) and a pair of comfy shoes that I wear on the plane
* Accessories that can mix and match for all five days
* Essential toiletries only
* Pajamas/sleepwear
* Underwear
* A pair of slippers for the hotel
* A travel candle or incense
* Travel adapters (if traveling overseas)
* Charger for camera
Carry-on luggage:
* A must is a pashmina or scarf as it's always too cold for me on the plane
* A long sleeve top or cardigan (as above) and socks
* Sunglasses
* Eye mask and ear plugs as I need to be able to zone out and sleep no matter whether it's day or night
* A book or magazine
* iPod
* Camera
* Hand cream, eye cream, toothpaste & brush, lip conditioner, face moisturizer, perfume/essential oil, eyelash curler and lip gloss/lipstick (travel size where possible)
* Bottles of water
* Clean underwear (in case your checked in baggage goes astray)
* Any vitamins/minerals or medication (as above)
* Phone and phone charger (as above)
* Healthy snacks, usually nuts in case I get hungry
* Breath mints

It is wonderful to have you commenting and responding to my posts. Keep them coming and I'll do my best to get back to you promptly.
Now to answer some of your questions...
* My cultural background is Serbian/Croatian. My parents met and married in Australia and my sister and I were born in Cairns, QLD before moving to Sydney where I grew up. Yes, a name like mine doesn't sound very Australian!
* Loosing weight should be a gradual thing that takes time, patience, dedication and motivation. You have to start somewhere and sometime and today is as good a day as any to commence a healthy lifestyle change for the better. Remember, exercise is just as important as watching what you eat/drink.
* Wearing big, baggy black clothes doesn't do much for your self-esteem and self confidence. Wear clothes for your size and incorporate colours you like and that suit you in your wardrobe. Try to avoid thick, bulky fabrics as they don't do our curves any favours. There is no need to be shy or embarrassed with the clothes you wear... you're trying to loose some extra weight so you can become healthier. Remind yourself and be proud!
* I'm a size 14/16 and 5'11' or 178cms tall.

I have been asked what are some of the health & beauty tips I have discovered and learnt along the way. There are many that work for me however, I'll share with you some of the big ones in my opinion. Feel free to share any tips that have helped you feel and look your best.
Health tips:
* Eat as healthily and wholesomely as you possibly can... focus on what goes in today, one day at a time
* Start your day with a healthy breakfast and eat 4 - 5 small regular meals throughout the day
* Carry nuts, fruit or a healthy snack in your bag so when hunger hits, you have something good and nutritious to munch on
* Balance out what you eat in your day, for example not all protein or all carbs (a little bit of everything)
* Drink PLENTY of water every day (at least eight glasses)
* Limit fried and fatty foods in your diet
* Try not to overeat and watch your portions (stop eating when your stomach tells you that it's full)
* Eat organic, natural and whole foods as much as possible and avoid processed foods
* Exercise is key to any healthy lifestyle (even walking 30mins a day will make a world of difference)
Beauty tips:
* Exfoliate skin (including the face) once a week
* Moisturize skin once a day after a shower
* Use a moisturizer on the skin before applying foundation
* Get a foundation and powder that is a correct colour match to your skin (you may need one for summer and another one for winter as our skin tone tends to vary)
* Emphasize either the eyes or the lips when wearing make-up (not both)
* Use a blush lightly along the cheekbone to give a natural hint of colour, no need to overdo it
* Make-up is all about blending blending blending
* Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara for added curl which helps open up the eye
* Invest in good hair & make-up brushes and clean them regularly with a mild detergent and warm water
* Get your hair cut, styled and coloured regularly (your hair is a very important part of grooming)
* Get regular hair treatments even if you buy the treatments and do them at home

This Summer is full of aquamarine brilliance. Watery hues of blue, green, aqua and sky bring a cool freshness to the season and work brilliantly with white.

This jacket can
dress up any outfit.
It's just so chi chi. |
The shape of this
top is just so great.
I always feel good
in it. |
Love this idea. 2 in 1 tops give you all the style, none of the hassle. No tucking or extra bulk. |

On Sunday, my birthing class had a reunion now that our babies are between 3 - 5 months old. It was wonderful to see these new friends that my husband and I have made and the new and precious lives that we created and brought into the world.
Of the eight couples, all of the mums returned to work (mostly part-time) after their babies were 3 months old... a sign of the times. My daughter was 12 weeks old when we shot the Sara spring catalogue in Sydney and it was my first shoot back after her birth. It was like no time had past and returning to work was so much better and easier because I was able to bring my daughter to the shoot with me.
Since then, my jobs have been primarily in New York (my choice) and I've been able to leave my daughter at home with my husband or mum. It is busy being a working mum, juggling the today whilst organising what is to come tomorrow. I love being a mother and would not change it for all the world. I, like so many mother's out there are learning new and wonderful things about ourselves and life from our children.

I love the warmer weather and the choices to fashion it brings. There are a lot of colour options and light fabrics that make looking good easy and fun.
In New York recently, fashion week (spring 2009) was held in Bryant Park. There was colour, colour everywhere from bright yellows, ocean blues to corals and pinks. There was a revival of fresh feminine sensibility that was beautiful yet elegant. Let's embrace our feminine form!
