How excited, albeit surprised, I was to win the ‘Perfect Pose’ competition back in July 2009. The prize – $1,000 to spend with EziBuy (which was taken care of in a surprisingly short amount of time) and a photo shoot with the lovely Ljubenka.
Due to the impending arrival of Ljubenka’s son Levi, the prize finally came to fruition almost a year later, not that I was complaining. And how delighted was I that I got to head from the deep South New Zealand to Sydney – a trip I’d never made before. The icing on the cake was that I got to take my brother Gary with me from New Zealand and flew my sister Lisa up from Melbourne – the first time in 7 years that we’d been together. My best friend Lee wasn’t being left out, so he flew down from Brisbane to join in the festivities.
Leaving the boys at home, Lisa and I were picked up by the wonderful Andrea (an organisational machine) and whisked away for a day of pampering. Ironically for the winner of a photo competition, I am photo-phobic, preferring to be on the other side of the camera, but the magic team on set made the experience so comfortable that it was hard to stay nervous.
I have to say, the catalogue pictures of Ljubenka just don’t do her justice. What a stunning woman, matched only by her gorgeous personality and her talent in front of the camera. We had the added delight of meeting her family too. Mila was a natural in front of the camera and Levi was so placid and happy. The legend that is Ljubenka’s Mum also came along, bringing her famous home baking for the crew. It was clear to see where Ljubenka gets her loveliness from.
The stylists effortlessly picked out something for me to wear and after make-up and hair (those ladies are magic – I wish I had their skills on hand each and every morning) it was into the spotlight. Everyone went out of their way to make the experience fun. The crew even managed to coax my sister (even more camera-phobe than I) in front of the camera for a sister shot.
And if all of the above wasn’t enough, I then got to select 5 items from the new range. Now that was a hard job – so many gorgeous things to choose from (so much so that I have a mental picture of numerous other items to buy from the catalogue as soon as it arrives).
I can’t thank the team enough for the amazing experience – thank you Sara and EziBuy and everyone there on the day of the shoot. It will remain a treasured experience.
